KTC Child & Family Services held a Traditional Cultural Camp in conjunction with the University of Alberta and Health Canada in August 2009 and August 2011.

Youth from Whitefish, Loon River and Woodland attended a one day presentation at the Cadotte Lake School gymnasium on August 20th, 2009.  Youth were instructed on science projects such as lighting, human anatomy and static electricity.   In August 2011, they did much of the same presentations and also had additional discussions on careers in Health and various other areas.

For the rest of the week, the youth were shown traditional culture activities such as:

• dry meat making

• fishing and preparing the fish

• tipi building

• how to set snares

• moose hide making

• arts and crafts

• drumming

• Fish & Wildlife, Forestry, RCMP presentations

• Elders storytelling

The youth enjoyed nightly entertainment such as fiddle playing, singing, drumming and even an Elvis impersonator.
